In their study of Surrealism, ART 8 freely explored the techniques of automatic drawing which was fundamental to many famous surrealists such as Dali and Miro as a means to explore their subconscious mind.
Through an imaginative use of mark making, form, colour, and turning their drawing to explore multi-directional lines, students showed their intuitive eye for composition, pattern and balance.
These drawings offer so many possibilities: be it to inform a larger painting, fashion and fabrics or a 3D artwork.
We hope that the art movements and techniques that they have learned in Middle School will inspire them on their journey into High School.
