Organic Abstraction: The Intersection of Nature and Geometry

Inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright’s “Organic Architecture” Philosophy

Frank Lloyd Wright, one of the most prolific architects of the 20th century, once said, “Study nature, love nature, stay close to nature. It will never fail you.”

Taking a cue from his philosophy of “Organic Architecture,” our high school students embarked on a unique artistic journey. Their challenge was to bridge the tangible world of nature with the abstract realm of geometry.

Students began by selecting a natural object or element that resonated with them. Through an in-depth analysis and observation, they deconstructed their chosen element into its basic geometric components. The next step was a transformation – a metamorphosis of these geometric shapes into a dynamic composition. The final creations are captivating pieces that straddle the line between recognition and abstraction.

As you browse through the displayed works, you’re invited to appreciate the familiar contours of the natural world, yet encouraged to delve deeper into the abstract geometries that construct it. The students’ compositions evoke a sense of wonder, drawing parallels between the organic flow of nature and the defined lines of geometry.

We hope this collection challenges your perspective and encourages a deeper appreciation for the harmonious interplay between nature and design. Enjoy the journey of discovery!

This display is a testament to our students’ creative prowess, their understanding of design principles, and their ability to meld two seemingly disparate worlds into one unified vision
